EkoBuilt’s net zero model home is available for public visits a handful of times each year in Ottawa, Canada. We share upcoming dates here, on social media, and with our mailing list.
EkoBuilt Model Passive Home
As we’re a small, nimble company, we don’t run the home as a presentation centre. We can only offer private tours to people committed to working with us.

Net Zero Bungalow and Coach House
Located in West Ottawa, our net zero model home is easily accessed by anyone keen to feel the passive house difference and to see a net zero home in action.
It’s a particularly exciting project for us as it’s allowing us to expand on our super energy efficient home offerings in two key ways:
Net Positive is our new take on Net Zero. Our new model home is so energy efficient, the 6kW solar installation we have in place is often producing more energy than the home needs. That’s Net Positive!

Passive Home inspiration
Our finished model home is just one incarnation of a passive house plan.
We’ve put together these gorgeous renders for your inspiration, with completed outdoor spaces and landscaping.
We also include below photography of finished interiors and exteriors of our model home, as well as photos of the solar array on the coach home.
You might also love the blog post we did on how you can customize your home, including image compares of exterior finishes.
Super smart floorplan
The main home’s floorplan is incredibly smart and will appeal to families in need of maximum bedroom space, as well as to home owners who’d like to use one or more those bedrooms as an office, den, or other quiet “away space”.
It would also be easy to take down a wall between two of these bedrooms for a larger space.
A covered porch connects the main home and the garage/coach home, which in our case features an upper floor with an office for EkoBuilt.
For other homeowners, this could be the perfect in-law suite, rental apartment, home gym, or studio with guest space built in. The possibilities are amazing.
4-bedroom house plan
The main Pine Valley bungalow house plan is 1,634 square feet.
We have good guidance on our blog about how to calculate the turnkey cost of any of our house plans.
If you’re interested in possibly building this house plan, we’ve already created a full cost analysis for you:
Note: Cost analysis documents updated Dec 2022. Pricing won’t be accurate, but a good ballpark.
Take a tour when it suits you, virtually
We know it’s not practical for many of our customers to travel to our Canadian headquarters, so we’ve put together a virtual tour you can enjoy from the comfort of your own home.
We think you’ll agree with other homeowners in diverse locations across the continent – from Ontario to Atlantic Canada, Maine, New York, South Carolina, Utah, and Minnesota and points in between – that we have your passive house solution.
