It’s been a whirlwind year on many fronts, and we’re so delighted to have grown the base of people who are following along on this journey of sustainability.
We’re excited to start 2019 with our passive townhome development in Perth, Ontario, many new custom home builds and packages, and an ever growing base of folks interested in Eko Communities.
We’ll be renewing our commitment to regular, informative blog posts, with a new expanded series on retrofitting existing homes.
Please continue to join us right here, through our mailing list, and on Facebook, and of course we look forward to seeing you at trade shows and when we next open the doors of the EkoModel Home.
For you and yours we wish the very best in 2019.
We’re still looking for more help with our Ottawa / Eastern Ontario construction projects.
The ideal candidate will have a minimum two years of experience in a related field and come with a positive, self-motivated attitude, however anyone with a good work ethic is welcome to contact us. We look forward to hearing from interested individuals.
If you’re interested or know someone who might be, please get in touch or share our details:

EkoBuilt is really pleased to be sponsoring one of the 200+ teams taking part in this year’s Mongol Rally. This 25,000km odyssey takes the teams, in their super under-powered vehicles, across 25,000 km from western Europe to Ulan Ude, Russia over the summer. Teams raise money and awareness for Cool Earth, and also for charities of their own choosing.
Team Shenlong is made up of four great guys: Markus (German) and Oliver, Grayson and Seth (all Canadian). They’ve identified three additional charities that their fundraising goal will support:
- Streetkids International e.V.
- Taiwan Fund for Children and Families
- British Columbia Schizophrenia Society
EkoBuilt’s donation is being split between Cool Earth and supporting the team. They’ve got a great line up of sponsors and welcome donations from the public too.
Cool Earth is a UK-based international organization that works alongside rainforest communities to halt deforestation and reduce the impacts of climate change.

The Saddlebrooke Estates offer a special opportunity to live surrounded by protected park land in the Carp Hills just a short hop from the bustle of Kanata. Although more than 70% sold, around ten lots are still for sale ranging in size from 2.1 to 3.6 acres. This is a pretty unique opportunity and a bit of a hidden gem within Ottawa.
The Estates run along two very quiet roads that are already home to many large, established homes with natural gardens and well established trees. Because the lots were sold in two phases, choosing a lot here means that you won’t feel like you’re in the middle of a housing development.
Enjoy protected rural living on secluded, affordable 2 to 3.5 acre lots just minutes from Kanata

In addition, you’ll enjoy:
- the rolling hills and trees of 300 acres of protected park land that surround the Estates
- a guarantee of a lifetime of privacy with no further development
- being able to ski or hike right from your back door
- rural living with the convenience of nearby city amenities
Priced from $160,000 to $200,000, the lots represent excellent value and interested buyers can discuss details with Burnford Realty, a family-run company in Ottawa which originally assembled and owns the lots.
