Don’t see your plan in our existing portfolio of 50+ passive house plans? Use our in-house architecture service. It’s the best choice you’ll make.

The Smartest Choice You’ll Make

We can design a new house plan from scratch or modify any of our existing plans. It’s the best and most cost effective way to build your passive home.

We get it. You want your home to be exclusively yours, suited to how you live, who you are, and what’s most important to you.

You don’t need to find an architect to make that dream a reality. In fact, we’d encourage you not to, for the following reasons:

  1. It will add cost to your project, unnecessarily;
  2. It will add time to your project, often stretching out your timeline to by many months.

On a complex project, an architect will earn their place, but we’d argue they are not needed on your home. We have all of the in-house expertise needed to build you the best passive home and as affordably as possible.

We understand all of the issue related to building passive through deep experience, including how to do that both beautifully and affordably.

The Passive House Experts

Our approach to passive house design is so well thought through, we’ve translated it into a kit, which we can ship just about anywhere in Canada and the United States.

We’ve thought through every aspect of building, and which components are best sourced locally, including roof trusses, which will be determined by local roof manufacturers who know the local requirements for snow loads, etc.

We’ve refined all of the elements that go into a successful passive home.

If you or someone you know is on the cusp of moving into a passive home design, please speak with us first. We can help save you time and money, and to achieve the best home for today and tomorrow.

Don’t just take our word for it – here’s what a recent customer says:

This passive home was built using EkoBuilt's passive house kit.
This home in Victoria Harbour, Ontario, began with a conversation about our Wakefield plan and grew and changed to meet what the home owners most wanted and needed. It’s unique to them.

We are now wrapping up the finishing stages of building our EkoBuilt Passive House. We ordered our house kit from EkoBuilt and Paul Kealey was such an amazing support throughout the entire build process… answering our questions, guiding us through and visiting our site to consult with us. We can’t thank Paul enough for being such an incredible person and providing us with this opportunity to build an amazing home that has already proven itself to be everything it promised to be… super efficient, amazingly comfortable, still and quiet, and being kind to our future selves with affordable and predictable low energy consumption into the future. If you’re thinking of building a home, we strongly recommend taking the Passive House route… and EkoBuilt is absolutely recommended as the company of choice. Jennifer Pimentel, passive home owner

Passive bungalow with clever design

More often than not, starting with one of our designs can give you something to respond to. You don’t have to go this route, but it’s a great way to get ideas you might not otherwise have.

The Honeysuckle is an EkoBuilt floorplan with a clever design that features the master bedroom and ensuite at one end of a streamlined bungalow, and two bedrooms with a shared Jack and Jill bathroom at the other end.

For home owners with frequent guests or older children, it can be the perfect design.
