New passive house design in the Chelsea Highlands

This year we finished work on a new passive house in the Chelsea Highlands, a planned development on 90 acres outside of Chelsea, Quebec. The community is notable for being just a short drive from Ottawa-Gatineau; it also has a strong focus on sustainability.

A new passive house plan

The latest in our evolving line of super energy efficient house plans, The Fern was customized for this project.

This 1,746 square foot bungalow features abundant windows around the entire home, as well as a small 90-foot screened-in porch with companion deck just off the kitchen.

This smartly laid out home includes a master bedroom with ensuite (including a shower and a soaker tub), as well as two additional bedrooms with a shared three-piece bathroom.

There is an open plan kitchen and dining room that flows into a comfortable living room with a large niche for some separation. The living room features a wood stove.

The home sits on a beautiful parcel of land in the Chelsea Highlands, tucked between the Gatineau River and Gatineau Park. The community was developed with respect for the environment and sustainability in mind.
