We recently completed a build of two coach homes in the long established Glebe neighbourhood just south of Ottawa’s downtown core. We have a video walkthrough to share!
Coach home with basement
Our Dandelion model was chosen for its compact footprint, and then modified to suit this project. To maximize the space and the return on investment, a full basement was added. The base Dandelion floorplan covers 400 sq ft, so this doubled the total living space to 800 sq ft.
The finished 2-bedroom units include a kitchen, one bed and bath on the ground floor, with a living room, second bedroom and laundry/bath in the basement.

Floorplans for Coach Homes and Garden Suites
We know that Toronto-area homeowners are anxiously awaiting new guidelines that would allow for garden suites, in addition to laneway homes. We’re hopeful that this will become a reality before long, allowing for sustainable development in that city.
Secondary Dwellings
This project is a great example of the secondary dwelling initiative allowed by City of Ottawa. This initiative has paved the way for more dwellings within the City, including units which offer smaller home options which have a reduced footprint and the benefit of being more affordable.
Like all of our homes, these coach homes are super sustainable. Being operated by an electrical heat pump makes for small utility bills and a small carbon footprint.
These coach homes are also net zero on the net metering program which means they produce the same amount of energy as they use thanks to roof-mounted solar panels. The complete electric bill is offset as a result.
It’s critical to us and so many of our customers that we help to address climate change by building affordable passive homes. We all want to do our part in the City of Ottawa’s countdown to a carbon free city by 2050.
